Summer Institute for Teachers
To the Revolution and Beyond: In Their Own Words
June 26-27, 2026
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, come explore the ideas that shaped the American founding directly from the primary sources your students should encounter. On Day 1, we begin before independence, examining the diverse traditions that informed colonial political thought. On Day 2, we turn to the immediate aftermath of independence and the challenges of political construction. Together, we’ll examine voices from the colonial period through the Constitutional Convention, including the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist debates, and more.
Teachers already know how to teach. Our goal is to provide space to think, read, and explore.
