Dr. Rebecca Flavin discussed the value of civility in political debates

Along with three other Baylor faculty members, Dr. Flavin participated in an online webinar on the topic “Discovering Christian civility in the midst of political hostility” held on October 17, 2024.

The discussion was part of the Baylor Conversation Series on civil discourse.

Some of the questions that the panelists considered during their discussion included:

• What can we learn from the Bible about political engagement and/or civil discourse? 
• What best practices exist for meaningful and wise engagement given today’s political climate? 
• How is it possible to maintain relationships with those with whom we deeply disagree? How can our faith heal divisions? 
• Given Baylor’s Christian mission, what opportunities for fostering civil discourse exist for Baylor right now?
